(6) Windows – Good Samaritan

Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan is depicted on a window on the south side of the church. In a scene taken from the parable of the Good Samaritan as narrated in the Gospel of Luke Chapter 10, verses 30 - 37, the protagonist is shown assisting the man who has been robbed, getting ready to load him on his own mule and take him to a nearby inn. Jesus, in telling the parable, urges us to show mercy on our neighbours in a similar way   - "Go and do thou likewise" Luke 10: 37

The inscription below the window reads: "To the Glory of God and in dear Memory of Edmund H A Oakes and his daughter Marion who passed to their rest in January and October 1920."

Edmund Oakes lived at Grayswood House.
