The pulpit is hexagonal in shape. The deep carving on the pulpit which includes the motto "He that hath ears to hear let him hear" (The Gospel of Matthew chapter 11 verse 15) is also by Axel Haig.

St Paul, shown with a pointed head, receding hairline, holds a sword and a book. The book symbolises his many letters written to the early churches. Traditionally Paul and Peter were executed on the same day (which is why they share a feast day on June 29th). Whereas Peter was crucified, Paul was entitled as a Roman Citizen to be executed by beheading with a sword; the sword becoming his major attribute.

The carving is consistent with Axel Haig's style and is thought to be by him.
