New leadership

Our very own priest, Fi Gwynn, has announced that she is stepping down from title post with effect from 11th April 2027.

We will then be in a period of Vacancy (aka an interregnum) whilst we seek God’s guidance on the appointment of a new House for Duty priest.

Fi has been our Associate Priest for over six years during which time she has made a huge contribution to the life and witness of the parish. We pray that Fi will know the Lord’s richest blessing as she enters this next season of discernment and a different shape of ministry.

What Happens Now?

The Archdeacon of Surrey, Catharine Mabuza, has set out the process in a newsletter to the parish.
There is a standard process to go through when appointing a new priest in the Church of England.
A small team is putting together a draft Parish Profile for the PCC to give final approval in December.
This will then be published through the Church Times.

Praying for the Right Person

Please be faithful in praying for the church during the time of vacancy. Please remember Chris and the Churchwardens, the vacancy leadership team, those working on the parish profile, and all who have additional responsibility during this time. Please also pray that God will call the right person to be our new House for Duty priest and for wisdom in discerning this.

Vacancy Prayer

God our Father You have welcomed each one of us in Jesus and called us to be his body in this place;

Send us your Holy Spirit, at this time of uncertainty and change, to fill us with vision, energy, and faithfulness in prayer, that we may be true to our calling to bring new life to our community;

And guide with your heavenly wisdom those who are to choose a new House for Duty Priest for this parish, that the one who we receive may be a wise and gentle shepherd of your people: ready to serve us with joy, to build us up in faith, and to lead us by example in loving obedience to your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen
